I’ve received a letter from Shiva Hotels, regarding their proposal for Morley House and City Temple (24-26 Holborn Viaduct) on Holborn Viaduct.
Shiva Hotels, who bought the site two years ago with Longbow Investment, are a privately owned company with a track record in developing and managing hotels. They have over 2,000 bedrooms in London, either operational or under development and focus on securing prime strategic sites, in order to provide new hotels to a high-quality specific and with excellent management.
My client’s proposals are currently still developing, but it is envisaged that a planning application will shortly be submitted for the redevelopment and change of use of Morley House, to provide a new hotel of up to nine storeys for approximately 150 bedrooms. We are also seeking to pursue an option to combine works with the internal refurbishment of City Temple to offset the loss of office associated with Morley House’s redevelopment.
As we are still in the early stages of putting together the application, we would find it very useful to meet with you to explain our proposals in greater detail and learn more about any particular sensitivities or planning objectives which we should be aware of in this part of your ward.
As a member of the Planning & Transportation Committee, I wont be attending any provate meeting with the developer, but will be following this developement in our ward, with great interest. If you’ve got a view on this proposal, please get in touch.
Most of the details about this proposed ‘mid-rise’ hotel next to City Temple can be found on SkyScraperNews.com.
